The work of Helena Wikström seeks to go underground - below the surface. She digs dens, creates tunnels and descends below the earth's crust and the surface of the water in search of a space of gravity, a space defined by the attraction of our bodies to the ground. Using gravity as a compass, she draws a vertical map of the seabed which we cannot see. It feels as if the movement, up and down, rethinks a traditional world view, how we have learned to read the world, time, as horizontal. We also find a curiosity about who populates these places, be they real beings or mythological figures. At Digitaliseum, Helena shows film, photo, sound art and papier-mâché sculptures.

Helena Wikström (b. 1964 in Tingsryd) lives and works in Holmsund/Umeå. She mainly works with different types of installations containing film, photography, sound art and sculpture, often in collaboration with other artists, musicians and filmmakers. In addition to being involved in the artist-run gallery Verkligheten in Umeå, she works part-time as a curator for Vita kuben, Norrlandsoperan. Her work has been shown at Tromsö film festival, Bildmuseet, LCCA, Riga, National gallery, Prague, SVT and a large number of exhibitions, festivals, projects, nationally and internationally. Represented in several municipalities and county councils, the Modern Museum, Stockholm and the public art agency in Sweden. As a designer, Helena have designed a large amount of catalogues, books and posters.

 

Ladislav Kosa, born in 1969, is educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and works as a graphic designer and illustrator and has exhibited, among other things, at Form Design Center and Malmö Konsthall. 

In the Floravariationer project, he creates sensuous plant prints in several formats. The motifs on his prints are based on hand-picked plants that are pressed and dried in a plant press, scanned and edited digitally. 

Detailed and classically elegant, all with their own character and temperament. Like musical variations in plant form.
