The Failed Fika

Failed Fika

Students of the Design+Change master program, Linnaeus University, Växjö invite you to explore design processes that focus on issues concerning norms, norm-criticism and norm-creativity.

(Un-)learning Failure

In every aspiration, big or small, there is the potential to fail. It often evokes fear, disappointment, humiliation or holds us back from even trying. Failed Fika addresses the social norms around failure, exploring questions such as: What is a failure? Who has the right to decide what failures are? What are the negative connotations associated with failure and what are their consequences?

At a time when everyone is striving for mastery and innovation, what are the possibilities left for us to fail? Through the performance of a Failed Fika, we invite for a step out of the conventional, a collective failure.

We believe that failures can be productive and fruitful. We want to reclaim failure as a possible source of inspiration, as a pedagogical intervention that can help to facilitate the pursuit of a better future in community.

This performance belongs to the exhibition SEASONAL CLOTHING - DRESS REHEARSAL FOR CHANGING CLIMATES and takes place at the Tiny House on Wheels that is parked outside Lokstallarna. https://southernswedendesigndays.com/en/event/seasonal-clothing-dress-rehearsal-changing-climates
