Airing Thoughts

Kassandra

Om tankens behov av förankring i världen

If you release a thought into the world outside your own capsule, it has the opportunity to anchor itself in other people. In this way, it can participate in the human echo that constitutes collective thinking—the very thing that has developed and continues to develop us as beings, the thing that sets us humans apart from other animals.

We tend to keep our honest and intuitive thoughts and reflections to ourselves, which means they never get the chance to resonate anywhere. If a thought only circulates within our own capsule, there is a risk that we become anxious, even foolish, and make poor decisions.

In this piece of art, I let my thoughts escape from my own capsule on the second floor, via a ten-meter-long curtain that lands on the ground outside. The curtain, which normally serves as a barrier from the outside world, instead becomes a bridge between me—the individual in the capsule—and the passing people. The fabric is ten meters long and hand-painted with liquid ink.

Displayed every day during the festival between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
