Transcendence of a shirt

Photographer: Candelaria Gutierrez

A positive reflection on how what we wear connects us to the past and the future

A shirt that has been deconstructed and reworked by Ateljé Laga’s designer Verónica Luna will hang as a white canvas for the following days. On Thursday, May 22nd, visitors are invited to co-create the work by gaining access to different types of painting tools and textile paint. Later that day, around 16:00, artist Jennie Eklund will take over in a painting performance and weave together the expressions that have taken shape on the shirt.

The entire process – from the participants’ efforts to the final brushstroke – will be documented and encapsulated by photographer Tea Gistorp. The photo and video material will then be exhibited at the podium together with the shirt for the remaining days of the exhibition.

Through this exhibition, we invite one to reflect on their relationship with clothing. Our choices – what we wear, how we consume and which garments we choose to keep – reflect not only in our present but also our past, dreams for the future and our relationships with others. What does clothing really mean to us? How can it become a link to knowledge and community?

A living exhibition that explores change – in both material and thought.
