The clay, both fired and unfired, carries a deep symbolism that extends through our culture and history. A fundamental and ancient material, it has been part of civilization’s development for over sixteen thousand years.
For the local building tradition in southern Sweden, clay has been essential, and the built environment we see around us is a direct result of its inherent possibilities and limitations.
Now, clay is making its way back into modern construction, both as an industrial product and as a craft material. What opportunities does this bring?
Our installation explores that question. Here, visitors are invited to experience, understand, and interact with this timeless material. The pavilion becomes a place for contemplation—a moment to pause and gain perspective—but also for creativity and exploration.
