Interactive workshop hosted by ReFab Lab & designer Gergely Kovacs
In an interactive workshop at Lokstallarna, visitors will be invited to work with reclaimed materials to assemble a modular system from pre-cut components, exploring first-hand how discarded materials can be reconfigured into new, adaptable forms and objects. Facilitated by Refab Lab's designer in residency participant, Gergely Kovacs.
Gergely Kovacs is a furniture designer based in Malmö, focusing on creating furniture and functional objects that challenge perceptions of everyday materials. My work emphasises the inherent qualities of materials, encouraging re-evaluation and uncovering new possibilities. Often constructed from flat surfaces, my designs combine colour and material to form transparent, layered structures with complex spatial dimensions. Through design, I explore how furniture can tell stories about processes, materials, and conventions, using it as a medium to engage with material culture and speculative design.
All activities in ReFab Lab are focused on creative habits to enable shifts in mind set from always buying new to using DIY and salvaged materials to build or re-finish your favorite things.
Here we teach woodworking and creative workshops, hold team building events, design and create furniture and host a member based woodworking club.
