Mörka vatten
Karol Zarbock’s exhibition is rooted in the Nordic wilderness, in the magic of the forest and humanity’s use of it for reflection and healing. Through unique naturalistic works in ceramics and paper, he invites contemplation.
The forest has always been an enchanted world, filled with magic and supernatural beings. Both frightening and alluring, it has made us distance ourselves from it while simultaneously seeking it out for solace and restoration—once through ancient rituals and herbal remedies, today through mindfulness and forest bathing. The forest follows the cycles of nature. Perhaps the thought of our lives and inevitable death as part of this endless mechanism is comforting and has the power to heal us.
In the past, nature shaped humankind, but today the relationship is reversed. The magical beings of the forest fade as we encroach upon their world, widening the distance between us. Do the violations we commit signal the decline of mysticism and magic? Or will they take on new forms in a cycle shaped by our impact?
