Logistics is a huge and growing global business, where the challenge is finding the best way of moving things, at the lowest cost for businesses and the environment. The requirements vary from one business area to the next, and the need for specialized solutions keeps growing.
Toyota Material Handling Europe Design Center is an integral part of Toyota's global operations, and its work contributes to shaping the future of logistics.
Our main facility is located in Mjölby, Sweden, which is also where Toyota Material Handling Europe’s headquarters and main factory are situated. Since the design studio was set up in 2006, we’ve also launched satellite studios in Gothenburg and Bologna, Italy. The design team consists of dedicated professionals who have the creative wherewithal to develop the right designs for the right business areas.
These designs are not only about aesthetics but are also firmly rooted in function, ergonomics, safety, and sustainability. The studio has gained recognition for its work from industry organizations and trade publications and has won more than 35 international design awards, including:
- Red Dot’s ‘Best of the Best’
- iF Design Award’s ‘Gold’
- Good Design’s ‘Long Life Design’
Additionally, the studio has been ranked among Europe’s top 25 design studios by the iF Design Ranking 2020-2024.
Our survival and success in the logistics industry demand that we find the most talented, forward-thinking designers in the business. That’s why we launched the Toyota Logistics Design Competition (TLDC) back in 2014. This year, we are launching our seventh edition of the competition, open to design students and graduates worldwide.
