Exhibition in carpentry: Furniture, craft traditions and development
During Southern Sweden Design Days, we open the doors to our carpentry workshop in Kirseberg, showcasing furniture that explores how traditional craftsmanship methods intersect with modern design. By combining older techniques and joinery with contemporary expressions, we examine how furniture-making can evolve and adapt to meet future needs.
The fundamental principles of woodworking are based on an understanding of durability and how the properties of the material affect a piece of furniture over time. With these principles, we create furniture designed to last for a very long time—though they generally require a longer production process and materials that take time to cultivate.
What role does fine woodworking tradition play in today's challenges surrounding sustainability, quality, and economic viability? Is there a place for handcrafted, locally produced furniture in a modern context?
