Southern Sweden Design Days

Southern Sweden Design Days enters a new phase – returning in 2027

After five successful years, Southern Sweden Design Days will enter a new phase of development in 2026. The design festival, which has established itself as one of Sweden’s most significant platforms for contemporary design, is now setting its sights on the next edition in spring 2027.

Over the coming year, a period of reflection and development will take place to refine the festival’s format and content. The aim is to strengthen its role as an international meeting place for sustainability, collaboration, development and innovation.

Southern Sweden Design Days has helped put both Malmö and Sweden on the international design map, says Dorte Bo Bojesen, CEO of Form/Design Center. After an intense and inspiring period, it’s time to look ahead and build on the strong foundation we’ve created.

Organised by Form/Design Center, the festival has since its inception in 2021 featured over 840 programme activities across 220 locations, with 1,500 participants and nearly 100,000 visitors. By showcasing design in all its forms – from exhibitions and talks to workshops and performances – Southern Sweden Design Days has broadened the understanding of what design can be and how it contributes to a sustainable future.

Southern Sweden Design Days has become an important unifying force for the design industry. The festival fosters encounters between actors from different disciplines and drives progress through collaboration and the exchange of knowledge, says Terese Alstin, Head of Strategic Development for the Design Field at Form/Design Center.

Over its first five years, the festival has invited the public to experience design in unexpected environments – from flower kiosks and allotments to hotel rooms and private homes. Its innovative programme has reflected the power of design to connect people, ideas and industries across boundaries.

We want to continue developing the festival in close dialogue with the design community, while strengthening collaborations regionally, nationally and internationally, says Ann Isler, Project Manager for Southern Sweden Design Days.

When Southern Sweden Design Days returns in 2027, it will do so with new perspectives, renewed formats and a continued focus on the design challenges of the future.
