SSDD Community workshop 2026

A recap of the SSDD Community Workshop in Malmö 2026

During the SSDD Community Workshop in Malmö, actors from across the design field came together – including independent practitioners, industry organisations and design clusters, as well as representatives from the public sector and academia – to explore ideas, themes, and directions for the festival’s continued development.

The workshop was held on March 4 at Trikåfabriken in Malmö and constitutes a step in Southern Sweden Design Days’ ongoing development process.

With inspiring perspectives from Eindhoven-based social designer and researcher Pete Fung, the workshop explored what makes the festival unique and which themes, opportunities, and directions could take it forward. It was shaped by dialogues on the future of design, where participants worked in groups based on six different themes to reflect on and sketch ideas for what the festival could look like in 2035.

In the afternoon, attention also turned to the site itself. Kajsa Blum and Carin Daal from Stena Fastigheter shared insights into the development and next phase of Trikåfabriken – located in the heart of Möllevången, in a historic setting that you can read more about here.

Southern Sweden Design Days (SSDD) celebrated its fifth anniversary in May 2025. After five successful years, the festival is now in a development phase aimed at further strengthening its role as an international platform for sustainability, collaboration, development, and innovation. SSDD is organised by Form/Design Center – Sweden’s leading platform for design, architecture, and crafts.
