Design + Play = Hang Around
Objective will exhibit their collection Hang Around, a collaboration of Jóna Berglind Stefánsdóttir, textile designer, and Helga Lára Halldórsdóttir, fashion designer. In Hang Around they have been analysing and researching wearable objects and how they interact with the body and its environment.
Objective’s work consists of creating sculptural forms for the body to interact with in some manner. However, each work also has the possibility of being displayed without the body itself, but always leaving an embodied element behind with their use of known garment elements in their designs.
Playfulness and humour is a key element in their design process as well as in their general message. They use this humour as a tool for translating this message to the viewer and therefore create a broader discussion.
In Objective’s current work, they have been analysing and researching wearable objects and how they interact with the body and its environment. With creating these static objects, which have now been focusing on the familiar objects of hammock and swings, they have found an interesting connection between the body and how it wears this spatial element of the hammocks and swings.
